Every club has different features and promotes different aspects of lacrosse, so it depends on what you are looking for. Some clubs focus on providing members with access to professional players (when they are available), while others focus solely on finding opportunities to play (even if they are recreational and noncompetitive games). At Titanium we strive to provide access to the best lacrosse coaches, rather than professional players (who aren’t necessarily trained in coaching, teaching skills or developing players), and we push for the highest levels of competition that are appropriate to the skills of each club member. We believe that focusing on these coaching skills will best help Titanium players develop and meet their lacrosse goals (especially if they aspire to play at the collegiate level). So, again, choosing a club depends mainly on what you are looking for.
This can admittedly be challenging at first, but when you really look at what the various clubs offer or focus on, it’s not hard to tell them apart and choose the one that best fits your needs.
At Titanium Lacrosse, for example, we provide membership at a cost similar to or lower than most other clubs while offering a range of opportunities that differentiates us from other clubs in the Midwest:
– Coaching and the T3 Model: Our foundation couples the winningest and most successful coaches and provides training and team leadership with accomplished academic advisors to support our athlete/student/person balanced approach and our T3 model that combines teams and tournaments, training and development, and teaching and education as a comprehensive platform that no other club even aspires to.
– Having Fun while Competing at the Highest Levels: Some clubs are clear that their mission is “all about having fun.” While fun is definitely central to the Titanium Lacrosse experience, we know that there are many ways to have fun, and that competing at the highest levels in pursuit of specific individual goals as an athlete, student and contributing member of the community is perhaps the most fun of all. This broader and more balanced approach is unique to Titanium Lacrosse.
– Students First: Within our balanced approach to development, we recognize that (especially for players hoping to play at the collegiate level) lacrosse players need to be “students first” in the eyes of their parents and coaches; accordingly, we offer a unique academic advisory and college-prep service to members that no other lacrosse clubs do.
The Titanium Lacrosse philosophies and approach were formed with the idea that giving back to the community should be central to a strong organization and the members within it. Accordingly, we at Titanium Lacrosse have several programs that are important to our overall charter and mission. Here are just a few:
– Titanium Charitable Giving: As part of our organizational commitment to the communities where our members live, we are establishing a fund for different charitable organizations each calendar year.
– The Titanium Foundation Scholarship: Each year we collaborate with our major sponsors in the community to award financial support to Titanium Lacrosse members who best represent and demonstrate the values and behaviors we aspire to as an organization.
– Booster Benefactors: Aware that most Titanium Lacrosse players are affiliated with school-based lacrosse programs that sometimes face financial challenges, we allocate a certain amount of money each year to provide school lacrosse booster organizations with much-needed funds.
– Gear-For-Grades: We work to incent our members to the highest-level of academic achievement and provide incentives for those who attain high honors in scholastic accomplishment.
In addition to allowing our membership to feel good about some of their fees going to good causes, we provide our players the opportunity to be associated with these and other betterment programs as a means of fulfilling community-service requirements and providing potential content for college application essays and questions.
The Titanium Lacrosse coaches have a proven track record of developing players to reach their maximum potential, educating and counseling players and their families on the recruiting process and required academic standards, and assisting players to develop holistically, thus increasing the likelihood of them being seen as “recruitable” athletes.
Knowledge of what college coaches are looking for, understanding of the recruiting process/trends, and the building of important relationships with college coaches takes years and years to attain. While many organizations claim to have this expertise (and some lack all of it), Titanium has a proven track record of it.
Evidence of this expertise can be found on our Titanium College Commitments page. Additionally, many of the Titanium coaches brought with them the experiences and expertise they acquired prior to the formation of Titanium Lacrosse while they were assisting dozens of players with recruiting.
While Titanium Lacrosse is the leader in developing excellent lacrosse players who often earn the opportunity to play lacrosse in college, this is only accomplished by developing each player's skills. Titanium is the right fit for anyone interested in developing their skills and becoming a better lacrosse player.
Given that Titanium strongly believes that student-athletes should pursue academics over athletics when making a college decision, it is not surprising that sometimes Titanium players choose to attend excellent colleges that don't have organized lacrosse. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Since Titanium develops the player, student, and person, Titanium would still be a good fit.
The only players Titanium is not the right fit for are those who are not interested in developing their game, not interested in being upstanding citizens, and/or not interested in being the best they can be.
The sooner the better!
It's easier to build the correct habits at the start than to break bad habits and then try to teach good ones. Think of it this way: Imagine what kind of basketball player a youth might be if taught from a young age that the proper way to shoot a basketball is “granny style” (with both hands under the ball and shooting it from between your legs). Believe it or not, this is equivalent to how many young lacrosse players are taught! Often, their first coaches are volunteering dads who have great intentions but no playing experience.
The earlier a player begins working with Titanium, the more likely he will learn the correct fundamentals, which will also make the game more fun!
For the individual who has been playing for a while or is already in high school, Titanium focuses on fine-tuning his skills and relies on decades of coaching experience to hone in on each player’s needs. This is where Titanium's top-notch coaching staff excels with its significant experience in coaching high school teams.
